Claire's Preschool Performance

Since this actually occurred at the beginning on the month, I figure I better get it on the blog or I never will catch up.  Her class performed a number of songs and I only put up one.  The first picture is the class getting ready to recite the book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and the second picture is the class singing "Oh Mr. Sun, Sun, Mr. Golden Sun, Please Shine Down on Me.  You can tell that only her and the girl next to her were really into it. Claire loves school and is so sad that it is over but is already looking forward to next year!  Claire's teacher, Ms. Naomi, was a wonderful teacher and Claire really enjoyed going there.  Everyday she would ask, "Do I get to go to Preschool today?"  Let's just hope that her excitement for school continues!

Caramel Bars

These are some of my favorite bars.  They are delicious!!!

1/2 cup butter
1 cup packed brown sugar
3/4 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup chopped pecans
2 T powdered sugar

Melt butter with the brown sugar in a double broiler, stirring well to blend.  Cool to room temperature.
Add the flour, baking powder, egg, vanilla and pecans and mix well.  Spread in a greased 9x9 inch baking pan.
Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.  Cool on a wire rack.  Sprinkle with powdered sugar and cut into 1x2 inch bars.

Cute things that they say

Cade: Yesterday Cade thought he was going to go to a friend's house today that had a wii.  He got very excited because he wanted to play his game but I couldn't understand what game he wanted to play.  After trying to help me understand and failing he said, "Like my middle name!"  I asked, "Kenneth?"  "Yeah!  Kenneth! (As he swung his arm)  Then it dawned on me, "Oh Tennis!"  "Yeah Tennis!"  I am so proud of this little boy and the progress he has made in the last 7 months.  He doesn't give up and finds cute ways to help bridge the gap.  Pretty smart if you ask me!

Claire:  Claire is anxiously awaiting our trip to Grandma's house to see Uncle John come home from his mission.  We have been counting down since we had 15 days.  Now we are down to 3!  Every morning, the first thing she says to me, no matter how asleep she still is she tells me how many more days.  It's too cute!

Chloe:  Chloe is at the fun age when anything they say is cute because she is trying so hard to talk and she does a great job at it.  I love it when she says, "I love you" it sounds like "I la you"

They're ALWAYS watching!

I guess I assume because I don't like commercials that my kids don't pay attention.  Especially since they usually are up and running around in between the commercials.  On Saturday after Cade's baseball game (he had a great catch, by the way!) Casey told the kids we would go get them chicken and french fries.  They were very excited and kept talking about how they wanted an Indiana Jones toy.  I had no idea which fast food establishment was giving out Indiana Jones toys or if anyone was at all.  We asked them if they wanted McDonalds (Old McDonald's if you ask them) and Cade said no.  We asked them if they wanted Burger King and they said yes.  The last time we went they were giving out Iron Man toys and so I said, "No, they are giving out Iron Man."  Cade proceeded to say, "Not anymore, they have Indiana Jones now!"  How else would he had known that!  Sure enough, we found this and the kids were happy!

I got tagged...again

This tag was by my long time friend, Michelle.  I couldn't get her cute little cliparts to work on my blog so it's not as fun as hers.  Here we go...

10 years ago...  In the summer of 1998 I was living in Provo, doing an internship with the City of Orem Parks and Recreation department so I could graduate from BYU.  I also had just bought my first new car, a silver plum (it wasn't purple!)  Saturn SL2.

Things on my Monday to do list:
Take Cade to piano lessons
Go to Claire's last day of Preschool presentation (post to come)
Go to Costco
Laundry
Iron

What would I do if I had a billion dollars:
Pay off mortgage
Buy some land and build our dream house (with a pool of course so that the summers are a little bearable)
Help my brother get into a house (he just moved from Utah to California, not quite an equal market)
Put away money for the kids college
Put away money for missions for us when the kids are out of the house
Invest
Donate money to the wheelchair fund- a really neat program, check it out
Give money to charities- One of them will definitely be the American Cancer Society (the odds are pretty high and I might get it so hopefully if I do get it then the medicine will be that much better!

3 of my bad habits:
Sneaking candy so I don't have to share!
Watching too many shows
Buying things that I want to get into and never do.  (Ex paper scrapbooking.  I have a BUNCH of stuff I bought with good intentions to do for my kids but now that there is digital scrapbooking why would I try to go back to that?  Digiscrapping is right on my computer and I don't have to get all of the supplies out!  And you can use whatever you buy over and over again!   So if you need anything let me know and I would be happy to sell or even give it to you!)

Places I've Lived:
California, Idaho, Utah, Arizona, Nevada

Job's I've Had:
Retail
LifeGaurd, Swim Instructor, Pool Manager
Card Swipper at the Cannon Center
BYU Bookstore Associate
Employment Manager at a Hilton Resort
Mommy

5 things most people don't know about me
- I was painfully shy when I was growing up.  Even in high school I was still pretty shy, especially when it came to boys I liked.  I did NOT know how to talk to them.
- Even though I have been teaching over a year, I still get nervous every time I teach Gospel Doctrine
- I danced for 10 years
- I was Homecoming Queen
- I have to rock out to music and sing really loud when I clean.  So if you are driving by my house and hear the music blaring you know why.

Now it's my turn to pass it along...
I'll go with Amanda, since she got me the last time, and Adelia

I got tagged

I got tagged by my friend Amanda.  We knew each other at BYU, when her first child was a little baby.  It's amazing that we were able to get back in touch with each other, those are the advantages of never changing your email address!

What is your husband's name?  Casey, yes, my brother's name is Casey too.  That was a little weird at first!
How long have you been married? 7 years
Who eats more sweets?  I would say me because I bake and eat it all along with my kids.  But if you consider sweets sugar and sugar = Coke, then Casey would probably win!
Who said "I love you" first?  I probably would have said it first but I waited until he said it.
How old is he? 34
Who is taller?  Casey
Who is smarter?  I would say he is and he would say that I don't give myself enough credit.  If we based it on test results then he would definitely win.  So I'm right!
Who can sing better?  Me
Who kissed who first?  That's easy, Casey kissed me first.
Who asked who out?  He did.  I could tell he wanted to.  Some other guys in my ward were a little upset because I was kind of seeing someone long distance and so they didn't because they thought we were still really together.  Casey came home from school and the other guy was already gone so he decided to make a move. It paid off!
Who has more siblings?  He does!
Who wears the pants?  We both do for different situations.

So now is my time to tag...  Let's go with Kayla, Heather and Mary

Funny Baseball Moment

Last night we had yet another t-ball game.  Cade was waiting his turn at bat right outside the dugout and decided to make a dirt pile.  He went to bat and then got out at second base because the person at bat hit it straight to 2nd.  I was a little nervous because in t-ball they do send them back to the dug out when they get out and this was his first time.  Sure enough, when he got back to the dugout he was upset and stomped his foot on the ground.  Apparently, he wasn't upset that he got out, he was upset that someone ruined his dirt pile!  At least we don't have to worry about him being too competitive!
